The Los Angeles-bred band MR NO pulls on influences across genres, but most closely resembles an indie pop-rock fusion. MR NO began in 2019 as a passion project of lead vocalist Jason Vance and guitarist Ethan Rubin; the pair began recording in Vance’s bedroom studio and eventually produced two singles, “When I’m Down” and “Miss Me Now.” Shortly thereafter, they enlisted the help of drummer Nadiv Lev and bassist Josh Dreben to help finish their forthcoming EP and round out the live element. Eager to play for new audiences, MR NO continues to write and refine their sound into something unique, something that cannot be put in a box. After all, according to the band themselves: “MR NO is a band that can’t be put into a box. We are far too large to all fit in a single box.”
